You'll be seeing fireworks the day after the 4th, for sure. And aspirin doesn't help. But try not to be nursing a hangover from a jail cell.
The LAPD is also celebrating our independence from oil England. But cops will also have no problem, as usual, busting their fellow Americans for acting like Irishmen.
And so, without further adieu, here's our DUI checkpoint and drunk patrol cheat sheet for the 4th of July holiday “weekend:”
-Today from noon to 8 p.m. there will be a drunk-driver “saturation patrol” in the LAPD's Harbor Division area, which includes San Pedro, Wilmington and parts of Harbor Gateway.
-Thursday from 7 p.m. to 3 a.m. there will be a DUI checkpoint at South Vermont Avenue and West Sixth Street in Koreatown.
-Friday there will be a DUI checkpoint from 7 p.m. to 3 a.m. at Lincoln Boulevard and Maxella Avenue near Marina Del Rey.
-Friday there will be a DUI checkpoint from 7 p.m. to 3 a.m. at Rosecrans and Menlo Avenues in Harbor Gateway.
-Saturday there will be a DUI checkpoint from 7 p.m. to 3 a.m. at Laurel Canyon Boulevard and Paxton Street in Pacoima.
-Saturday there will be a DUI checkpoint from 7 p.m. to 3 a.m. at Roscoe Boulevard and Noble Avenue in Van Nuys.
So now you know: If you get all lit up, call a taxi.
