With no re-opening date in sight for Disneyland, home of the famous Dole Whip, and summer soon upon us, we thought it might be a good time to pull out the recipe for the frosty dessert developed in 1986 as part of the company’s sponsorship of the park’s Enchanted Tiki Room.

The mouse house may be shuttered, but you can easily whip up the tropical frozen treat yourself and wish upon a star. With only five ingredients, it takes minutes to prepare (Dole suggests freezing your fruit in airtight containers:)

Ingredients

  • 1 cup ripe DOLE® pineapple, chopped and frozen
  • 1 ripe DOLE® banana, peeled and frozen
  • 2-1/2 teaspoons powdered sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened coconut milk
  • 1 teaspoon lime juice

DIRECTIONS

Combine all  ingredients in a blender or food processor. Cover and blend until smooth, about 2-3 minutes. Garnish with fresh pineapple. Serve immediately.

In other tropical news, Dole is rallying pineapple lovers to get creative with their Dole Whip recipes on TikTok, Instagram, Facebook and Twitter. The Whip fan with the best recipe receives a Vitamix Ascent Series A2500 mixer, and several runners-up will win a fun Dole Whip Prize Pack.  The contest begins  May 29  and runs through June 8. Dole Whip fans are encouraged to follow @dolepics on Instagram, @Dole on Facebook and @doletweets on Twitter for specific dates and details.

A new Dole salad kit will also hit the shelves in June, paying tribute to the company’s 119 years of Hawaiian and pineapple heritage. It features a Hawaiian Slawesome  Kit with a mix of shredded green and red cabbage and carrots,  grilled pineapple dressing made with Dole Tropical Gold Pineapples, and an instant-seasoning pack.
