Child Not in Car Seat Killed in Collision near Highland Avenue

PHOENIX, AZ (December 14, 2021) – Wednesday night, a 4-year-old child was killed in a solo-car crash near 67th Avenue.

The crash took place at about 7:30 p.m., in the area of 67th and Highland Avenue. Dispatchers responded to the scene shortly after.

According to authorities, a Chevy Corvette heading southbound on 67th Avenue slammed into a tree. Due to the impact of the collision, the young child inside the vehicle was pronounced dead.

Investigators say the deceased 4-year-old child was unrestrainedly sitting on a woman’s lap.

Meanwhile, paramedics brought a man and a woman who both sustained critical injuries to a local hospital. Although, authorities have not yet released their identities.

Police said the speed of the vehicle had a role in the accident, but no additional information has been released.

At this time, the investigation is still currently underway.
