Four Hospitalized after Head-On Crash near Bypass RoadPEORIA, AZ (July 13, 2023) – Late Sunday afternoon, four victims sustained injuries in a head-on collision on State Route 74. Police responded to the scene around 4:00 p.m., near Bypass Road and Old Lake Pleasant Road on June 25th. For reasons under investigation, two vehicles collided head-on. Upon impact, one of the drivers attempted to flee the scene before they were located and arrested. Medics arrived and transported four victims to a nearby hospital for further treatment. Crews say one of the occupants was in critical condition. However, authorities have not yet released their identities. Meanwhile, emergency crews blocked all directions of SR-74 between milepost 7 (211th Avenue) and milepost 24 (New River Road) for additional investigation. Following preliminary duties, officers took the suspect driver into custody and charged him with aggravated assault. At this time, it was unknown if DUI played a role in the incident and an active investigation is still ongoing. Thousands of people are injured each year due to reckless driving.
