Injuries Reported after Traffic Crash near Highway 145

MADERA COUNTY, CA (March 25, 2022) – Late Tuesday morning, a two-vehicle crash on Cottonwood Creek left at least 4 people injured.

The incident happened around 10:30 a.m., in the area of Cottonwood Creek near Highway 145.

According to initial reports, the driver of a sedan was heading north on Highway 145 and veered off the road for reasons unknown.

Consequently, the vehicle struck a guard rail, and returned into the southbound lane, eventually hitting an oncoming van. The collision caused the sedan to split in half and threw a half portion of the vehicle into the creek.

Eventually, paramedics ended up taking the driver of the sedan and his female passenger, with major injuries, to a local hospital.

According to authorities, two more occupants of the sedan were also taken to the hospital with serious injuries. Two other people complained of pain, and a baby and a child in the van escaped the crash unharmed.

Both directions of the roadway were temporarily closed to allow for cleanup and preliminary duties.

Meanwhile, Madera County police are continuing to investigate the crash and will provide updates as they become available.

If you’re behind the wheel, pay full attention to the road and your surroundings. Do not engage in any non-driving activity which creates a potential distraction. You can help prevent an accident by abiding by all traffic laws and observing safety precautions.
