A moderate earthquake shook up many folks in Southern California overnight.

The 1:35 a.m. temblor measured 4.4 and struck about three miles north of Fontana, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

Can you say “earthquake weather?”
]The shaker was about 3.2 miles below the earth's surface, the USGS states.

People reported feeling it from Venice to Aliso Viejo in Orange County.

By the way, the sort of unseasonably warm weather we've had, paired with a soon-to-be-full moon (it's officially full later today), might seem like earthquake weather. But it's not.

Researchers have rejected the notion, saying quakes have happened in all kinds of conditions.

[Added at 2:10 a.m.]: Fontana police told us they had no reports of damage.

[Added at 2:15 a.m.]: Brian Humphrey of the L.A. Fire Department just put out this statement:

We have NO related calls for emergency aid, and NO reports of damage in LAFD jurisdiction.
