In the spirit of 4/20, La Morra Pizzeria is teaming up with Pure Beauty for a Limonene Dream pizza special recipe inspired by the potent, herbal and citrus flavors of Pure Beauty flower. The limited edition pie is made with naturally fermented sourdough and confit meyer lemon, herbed ricotta, mint, basil, parsley, mozzarella, pink peppercorn, and topped with organic cannabis flowers. Also included is a small batch, not-for-sale, extra virgin olive oil or “Pure Oil,” infused with flower rosin  containing a total of 10mg of THC. 

The superfood special is available today through Sunday, April 23, for pickup and delivery at lamorrapizzeria.com, Postmates and DoorDash. A portion of all proceeds from the Limonene Dream pizza will be donated to the Down North Foundation, a mission led, nonprofit that aims to reduce recidivism rates in their community by employing formerly incarcerated individuals and providing additional resources such as housing, legal representation and transportation.

Adams Wine Shop Meet the Maker (Courtesy Red Bear Winery)

Red Bear Winery – the boutique family owned wine label, launched in May 2022, from Sonoma’s Alexander Valley founded by Los Angeles-based entrepreneur Sam Jordan and his father, Wayne Jordan will be in town for events including the  Adams Wine Shop Meet the Maker afternoon on Saturday, April 29. Red Bear will now be available for purchase at Adams Wine Shop, and to celebrate, winery founder Sam Jordan will be at the West Adams storefront pouring his 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon for guests for $25 per person, open to the public age 21 and over, no RSVP necessary. 

There will also be a Black Pot Supper Club on Monday, May 1 and May 15, at  Post & Beam, where Red Bear Winery will be featured at an intimate dinner series, celebrating historic African American cuisine. Every dinner is limited to 18-20 seats, and is an eight-course ticketed dinner experience that begins at 6 p.m., with a welcome cocktail, followed by a coursed meal and wine pairings. This month, Santa Monica Proper Hotel will partner with the duo behind popular  Ojai staple Rory’s Place — sisters Rory and Meave McAuliffe — to offer an exclusive dining experience at the property’s Landmark event space, Siete. For one night only on Sunday, April 30, the hotel’s culinary team will interpret a special menu of Rory’s Place classics, including a Channel Islands Raw Bar to kick off the evening with Hamachi crudo, herb salad, and Japanese sweet potato to start, choice of whole grilled branzino or roasted chicken for entrées, and lemon posset and Meave’s Famous Chocolate Chip Cookie for dessert plus wine pairing. 

Agnes Restaurant & Cheesery in Old Town Pasadena just released its line-up of cheese classes through July, with tickets available now on Resy. The hands-on tasting classes take place every two weeks and cover a wide variety of topics — from the popular Cheese 101 series to special themed classes. Taught by Agnes Co-Owner/Head Cheese Monger Vanessa Tilaka Kalb, the classes introduce students to the vast world of cheeses, with tastings of different cheese styles, milk types, and pairings. Cheese + Beer, Wine, Cider is a special class coming up on Thursday, April 27, with guest co-teacher Steve Jones (author of Cheese Beer Wine Cider: A Field Guide to 75 Perfect Pairings), and each ticket will include a signed copy of Jones’ book. Tickets for all classes are available on Resy. Prices range from $95-165 per ticket, depending on the class.

Classes at Agnes Restaurant & Cheesery (Jakob Layman)

For Earth Day on April 22 only, guests who do their part in minimizing waste by bringing in their own reusable mug to Verve Coffee can receive a free batch brew.  The offer is available at all Verve Coffee locations in Northern and Southern California from open to close, one day only. Following Earth Day, all customers who bring their own mug to Verve’s cafes will receive 25 cents off their purchase moving forward. 

PATH will host its second annual Taste of Home food festival fundraiser at Sunset Las Palmas Studios in Hollywood on Saturday, April 29, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. The nonprofit’s festival of food and fun will feature unlimited tastings from popular food and  beverage vendors from around the city to raise funds to combat homelessness. Confirmed entertainment and participants include:

  • Food tastings from more than 20 local food vendors, including Ayara Thai, Chimmelier, Coni’Seafood, Irv’s Burgers, Spoon & Pork, and Tamales Elena. Tastings from beverage vendors include Loft & Bear (vodka cocktails), Gold Diggers (tequila cocktails), Modern Times Beer, and Jiant Hard Kombucha. (non-alcoholic options also will be available)
  • A VIP Happy Hour from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m., featuring inspirational words from LA County Supervisor Lindsey Horvath, PATH CEO Jennifer Hark-Deitz, and a dedicated VIP area 
  • A demo from beloved Oaxacan chef Poncho Martinez of Poncho’s Tlayudas, who also will discuss how he fuses food and activism to raise awareness for LA’s indigenous communities
  • A panel on current food insecurity and the homelessness crisis with PATH and local advocacy partners
  • Eclectic, dynamic beats by dublab
