Three Pronounced Dead after Multi-Car Accident near Forrester Road

IMPERIAL, CA (March 15, 2023) – Monday night, three occupants were killed in a wrong-way collision on Interstate 8.

Authorities responded to the scene around 7:36 p.m., on the westbound lanes of the freeway just east of Forrester Road on February 20th.

For reasons under investigation, the driver of a 2021 Tesla Model 3 was traveling east on the westbound lanes. As a result, the Tesla collided head-on with a 2016 Acura ILX, causing the Tesla to erupt in flames.

Due to the impact of the collision, medics pronounced two occupants inside the Tesla dead at the scene. Crews also pronounced the 28-year-old male driver of the Acura from Coachella, dead at the scene. First responders closed off the surrounding area for a brief time during cleanup and preliminary duties.

At this time, an active investigation to determine further information is still currently underway. Once available, more details will be provided about the wrong-way collision on Interstate 8.
