82-Year-Old Woman Hospitalized after Wrong-Way Collision near Glendale Avenue

GLENDALE, AZ (June 20, 2023) – Early Thursday morning, three victims sustained injuries in a wrong-way accident on State Route 51. Authorities responded to the scene just before 2:00 a.m., near Glendale Avenue on May 11th. According to the police, they witnessed a vehicle traveling south in the northbound lanes. Police followed the vehicle and intentionally crashed their vehicle into the driver to stop it. As a result, the 82-year-old female driver of the vehicle suffered minor injuries. Meanwhile, the two officers in the police vehicle transported themselves to the hospital. Consequently, the police stated that the woman was confused at that time and impairment was listed as a factor. The crash blocked the driveway during the length of the incident.
