Our weekly list of special event movies to check out this week:

Thursday, Sept. 20

Our holographic ambitions may have hit a little bump on the road when the company behind Tupac's resurrection at Coachella filed for bankruptcy. But if Baz Luhrmann is right, at least 3-D is here to stay. Don those glasses and embrace the future at the fifth annual 3-D Film Festival. The three-day affair commences tonight at L.A. Live's Regal Cinemas. In addition to 3-D features and shorts, expect stereoscopic gaming, enlightening panels and live music performances.

Saturday, Sept. 22

It would be a mistake under any circumstances to miss Cinespia's final showing of the season at Hollywood Forever Cemetery. But when the film is The Exorcist? We won't suggest that the power of Christ compels you to attend, but we do think the combination of setting and film will be pretty powerful. Savor what remains of this L.A. summer with the creepiest little girl in cinematic history. Make it a date among those famous tombstones, and don't forget to bring dinner and drinks.

Wednesday, Sept. 26

If you always thought that Rosemary's Baby was a bit lacking in the humor department, you owe a debt of gratitude to the 33,000 YouTube subscribers of Live Prude Girls. Tonight, Downtown Independent presents CINERRUPTION: Live Prude Girls Watch Rosemary's Baby. The comic duo and some friends will be front and center, delivering unparalleled insight into the 1968 horror classic.

Knowing there's a chance you're not a fan of talking during the movies, here's an alternative: a free screening of the Zach Galifianakis-produced Craigslist Joe at the Egyptian Theatre. The documentary follows 31-year-old Joseph Garner for a month as he lives solely through the perilous yet bargain-rich domain that is Craigslist. As insightful as it is amusing, the film is part of Social Media Week Los Angeles, an event that explores the impact of web-based technologies on modern communication.
