Get ready to armchair travel, wine glass in hand, at Cube Café and Marketplace on La Brea Avenue.

Starting September 8, Cube will pour 20 wines from 20 regions of Italy in 20 days. It's to celebrate winning a 2009 Wine Spectator Restaurant Wine List Award of Excellence. One wine will be served each day in alphabetical order according to region, starting with Abruzzo. All have won a Gambero Rosso award of excellence in Italy.

It's a rare chance to taste them by the glass, as many are normally sold only by the bottle, and the restaurant's Italian-inflected cuisine will provide the proper accompaniments to show them off.

So pack your hypothetical bags and travel to Cube, where the wines will cost $12 or less a glass, a lot easier on the pocketbook than a flight to Italy.

Cube's 20 in 20 special runs September 8 to September 30 from 11 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. weekdays and Saturdays.

Cube, 615 N. La Brea Avenue, L.A., (323) 939-1148.
