Police were on the hunt for two men involved in a Koreatown double murder that took place in broad daylight yesterday.

The afternoon attack happened at the busy intersection of Third Street and Normandie Avenue, police said. The victims were rushed to a nearby hospital but were both declared dead, LAPD Officer Sara Faden told us.

According to Faden, “words were exchanged” between the two suspects and the two victims before shots were fired.

Multiple rounds were fired, possibly by both suspects, she said.

Detectives were looking into whether the crime was gang-related.

The neighborhood is gang turf. Mara Salvatrucha rules much of the south side of Koreatown with rival 18th Street gang holding down Hollywood and some parts of the northern end of the community.
