Two Pronounced Dead after Big-Rig Accident near Old River Road

BAKERSFIELD, CA (March 1, 2022) – Early Friday morning, two victims were killed in a semi-truck collision on Herring Road.

The incident occurred around 4:00 a.m., near Old River Road.

According to reports, a black sedan was heading west on Herring Road while the semi-truck was traveling south on Old River Road. At the intersection, the driver of the sedan ran a red light and went directly into the path of the passing semi-truck.

Upon impact, the sedan rolled over onto the shoulder of the highway. Consequently, two people in the sedan died at the scene.

In addition, the third occupant from inside the sedan sustained serious injuries and was transported to a local hospital. Meanwhile, the driver of the semi-truck did not sustain any injuries.

The intersection at Herring and Old River Road is a T intersection. Crews say a stop sign is in place for those traveling east and west on Herring, while Old River Road is free-flowing.

At this time, the crash remains under active investigation.
