Two Injured in Wrong-Way Accident on Loop 202

PHOENIX, AZ (June 24, 2022) – At least two people sustained injuries after a wrong-way collision on Interstate 10, Monday morning.

The crash happened the morning of June 13th, in the area of Interstate 10 and Loop 202. Emergency crews responded to the scene shortly after.

For reasons unknown, a driver entered the off-ramp going the wrong direction on the freeway. Troopers spotted the car and used a pit maneuver to stop the driver, causing a collision between the officers and the suspect driver.

First responders took both the trooper and the driver to a nearby hospital for treatment. Authorities reported the driver sustained serious injuries, while the trooper suffered only minor injuries.
