Two Injured in Caltrans Truck Crash near Arata Lane
WINDSOR, CA (September 30, 2022) – Wednesday morning, two drivers were hospitalized after a two-vehicle accident on Highway 101.
Police responded to the scene around 11:15 a.m., just south of Arata Lane on September 28th.
Officers say the female driver of a Toyota Corolla slammed into a Caltrans truck. At the time, the truck was protecting a worker who was trimming vegetation in the center median.
Investigators say the Caltrans truck had its flashing lights on in the No.1 lane when it was struck from behind.
Medics arrived shortly after and transported the Toyota driver, from Geyersville to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital. In addition, the truck driver was transported after complaining of pain.
Emergency crews closed off the surrounding area for a brief time during cleanup and preliminary duties. No further information was provided and an active investigation into the two-vehicle accident on Highway 101 is still underway.
Because of their sheer size, large vehicles, like semi-trucks and trailers, increase the risk of a crash. If you’re driving one, always be mindful of your vehicle’s large height and weight. Maintain your travel lane and follow the speed limit. Also, adjust accordingly to give way for lane changes and other vehicles.
