Fiery Head-On Crash near Interstate 10 Left Vegetation Burned
RIVERSIDE COUNTY, CA (July 12, 2023) – Tuesday morning, two people were hospitalized following a head-on crash on Highway 62. According to the Riverside County Fire Department, the incident happened in the northbound lanes of the Hwy near Interstate 10 at around 9:05 a.m., June 20th. Furthermore, officers arrived at the scene and found two vehicles smashed head-on with a fire that burned 3 acres of vegetation. Consequently, emergency responders transported two people to the hospital in critical condition. Meanwhile, the Palm Springs Fire Department, Cathedral City Fire Department, and Cal Fire San Bernardino all responded to the scene to put out the fire. Following the crash, the officers blocked the westbound transition to Highway 62 from I-10 as crews worked for repair. At this time, the cause of the collision was not yet determined and an active investigation is still ongoing.
