Traffic Collision near Grant Street Left Two Hurt

BERKELEY, CA (August 2, 2022) – Police responded to a bicycle accident on University Avenue left two people injured, Sunday afternoon.

According to the report, the accident happened just after 1:00 p.m. on University Avenue, just east of Grant Street.

Furthermore, investigators said a driver of a silver Mercedes-Benz GL450 SUV collided with a bicyclist in Berkeley.

The SUV, driven by a 69-year-old man from Pinole, turned over on its side and briefly trapped the driver inside the vehicle.

Meanwhile, the 27-year-old cyclist from Suisun City sustained unspecified injuries. One patient was transported to Highland Hospital, and the other to a regional trauma center.

Moreover, both directions of the roadway were temporarily shutdown to allow for cleanup and preliminary duties.

Berkeley Officials continue to investigate the bike accident University Avenue.
