Stolen Vehicle Pursuit near Interstate 580 Ends in Crash

OAKLAND, CA (November 23, 2021) – Two deputies are recovering after a stolen vehicle pursuit near Interstate 580 ended in a crash.

Initially, the pursuit started around 11 a.m. when deputies spotted a stolen blue truck near 170th Avenue and Foothill Boulevard in San Leandro.

According to the authorities, the vehicle later rammed into an Alameda County Sheriff’s Office patrol car.

In addition, a deputy attempted to pull the suspect out of the stolen vehicle but was dragged along side it.

Afterwards, the driver fled off the wrong side of nearby Interstate 580, eventually carjacking another vehicle.

The pursuit ended when the suspect crashed near 98th Avenue and Westbound I-580, authorities said.

The two deputies involved in the incident received non-life threatening injuries.

Furthermore an active investigation by Oakland authorities is currently underway.
