Marilyn Chambers, the fresh-faced blonde model featured on the box of Ivory Snow detergent who became an iconic porn star, has been found dead in her home near Canyon Country. No cause of death has so far been determined for Chambers, who was born Marilyn Ann Briggs and would have turned 57 next week. In 1972 Jim and Artie Mitchell, two San Francisco adult film pioneers, cast Chambers in their groundbreaking porn flick, Behind the Green Door. The film became a cross-over hit and was followed by Chambers' next starring role in the brothers' The Resurrection of Eve.

Although Chambers turned in a creditable performance in David Cronenberg's 1977 non-porn horror film, Rabid,

she never escaped the label of being an adult-film actress and was

unable to find a career in mainstream film. Her last MySpace page entry

was dated August 19, 2007, and carried this update: “Just finished a

new movie , , ,  no not that kind of movie . . its a comedy.”
