An insane, 180-mile-per-hour-plus crash in Southern California was caught on video (see the whole thing on the next page).

Amazingly, the driver, identified as Brian Gillespie, walked out of a hospital last weekend following the spectacular roll-over wreck at El Mirage Lake in San Bernardino County, according to race organizers.

His sponsor, Eibach Springs, says Gillespie “had everything go terribly wrong while trying to break his own speed record.”

It happened Nov. 13 as the driver raced his modified Honda Insight, known as a “Hasport Hondata Insight,” against the clock on the dry lake bed during a two-day, Southern California Timing Association event.

The video was just posted this week but is already speeding toward a million views.

The organization says Gillespie was running at between 180 and 190 mph when the vehicle went sideways and then flipped multiple times on the desert sand.

He was taken to Arrowhead Medical Center in Colton to be treated for a collapsed lung, a cut on a shin and bruises on his head, organizers said in a statement.

The SCTA said the car's safety enhancements, including a roll cage, enabled his survival: “All the vehicle's safety equipment functioned perfectly.”
