Major Car Crash on Interstate 80 Left Multiple Injuries

EMIGRANT GAP, CA (March 30, 2021) – Saturday afternoon, a 13-vehicle accident caused multiple injuries on Interstate 80 near the Nevada state line.

The multi-car accident happened on March 20 near Emigrant Gap, while the roads were slippery from heavy snowfall.

According to officials, vehicles were driving at dangerously high speeds given the weather when one driver spun out, causing a chain reaction.

Among the 13 vehicles involved were a big rig and a tractor with a trailer. According to the CHP, one vehicle ended up 200 feet away over an embankment.

Due to the collision, authorities confirmed two major injuries and several minor injuries.

The entire area was blocked off due to the collision. However, as of 4:23 p.m., all westbound I-80 lanes had reopened.

Authorities did not release any additional information at this time. Although, the cause of the accident and factors involved remain under investigation.
