Updated at the bottom: The man was apprehended and the freeway is reopening.

A “possible jumper” over the 110 freeway downtown has prompted police to call out a SWAT team, the LAPD tells the Weekly.

The situation on the 7th Street bridge was reported by the L.A. Fire Department at 2:13 p.m. Police told us it was ongoing. KNX 1070 Newsradio said the scene has inspired a Sigalert for the freeway.

At least one photo of the area depicts all southbound lanes shutdown.

At the same time, the LAPD was searching for a murder suspect at the 110 freeway near Washington Boulevard, the CHP told us. It's not clear if the two situations are related.

[Update at 4:18 p.m.]: The CHP and the LAPD tell us the situation is over and the man was apprehended. The CHP says he was taken into custody before he could jump and that all lanes should reopen by about 4:25 p.m.

Was he the murder suspect cops were looking for not far away? Officer Cleon Joseph said it wasn't immediately clear.
