Like in any industry, some will make it, some won't. Here are the most promising newbies in adult entertainment.

10. Remy Lacroix
It's no small accomplishment to work a hula hoop into your image as a porn star, but Remy Lacroix has managed to do just that. Videos of her swinging a shiny circle around her waist — and ample backside — are plentiful online, and as such, she's been able to showcase both her God-given talent and her acquired skills. Lacroix, who got her start with Kink.com and took a brief hiatus from porn in 2012, won the 2013 AVN Award for Best New Starlet.

9. Alexis Monroe
Even as porn has expanded, happily, to include women of all shapes and sizes, with different hairstyles and tattoos and piercings, the classic blonde bombshell silhouette has stayed strong. And Alexis Monroe — taking the name of another famous towhead — is the newcomer ensuring that the look doesn't die with the times. A lion's mane of blond cascades from her head, curves assault the viewer upon peeping her pics, and light green eyes gaze up at the camera in every photograph she takes. Repped by Adult Talent Managers, the 22-year-old Monroe is what could be called a porn traditionalist.

Youth is at a premium in porn (as in life, but that's another story for another day), and Riley Reid has a corner on the market. At 21 years old, the actress has been performing since the age of 19, when she launched her career under the name Paige Riley. Represented by agent Mark Spiegler, the Ari Gold of porn, Riley has made a name for herself through her films, but also through her strong online presence. She regularly tweets pictures of herself…in tubs, on set, and with various objects in her mouth.

7. Staci Silverstone
Good things come in small packages, and Staci Silverstone is evidence of that. The tiny blonde uses her innocent look to star as everything from the girl next door to the naughty student getting schooled by a very invested teacher. According to her IMDB page, Silverstone has appeared in 11 movies so far, including “The Innocence of Youth” and “Big Dick in a Little Chick #2.”

The future of porn is inextricably tangled up in the future of feminism, and no one better combines these two worlds than Tasha Reign: The 24-year-old starlet, who launched her career as a Playboy model, is also a women's studies major at UCLA. When it comes to porn, she says, people at her school are “educated and media literate, and they are up for discussion; they are really on the open-minded side and they really enjoy sex.” Reign made the switch from nude modeling to hardcore videos after deciding she wanted to follow in the footsteps of established stars like Alexis Texas.

Tattoos and emotional hair are what's in in porn right now, and Bonnie Rotten, nominated for AVN's “Best New Starlet” award in 2013, is rocking both. With spiderwebs inked onto both breasts and the words “Dead Girls Don't Cry” permanently penned across her stomach, Rotten embodies the dirty fantasies of every goth teen on the planet. She shoots for companies including New Sensations, Evil Angel, Brazzers, and Diabolic.

4. Veruca James
Some people start a career like porn or stripping then realize that the short shelf life means they'll have to have something more solid to fall back on. Veruca James did just the opposite. The CPA-turned-porn-star, who got her start with Burning Angel at the end of 2011, turned to porn after deciding that the corporate life was not for her. She's now establishing her brand through sites like Woodrocket.com, which incorporates humor into its hardcore films, and continuing to shoot for companies like Burning Angel and Brazzers.

3. Skin Diamond
Porn would be nothing without fetishes, and Skin Diamond has her heart set on bringing them to you via her movies and website. A self-described masochist, the 26-year-old Los Angeles native launched her career by posing for mainstream companies like American Apparel and Louis Vuitton, then made her way into porn. Now, she can be seen crushing what appears to be a bloody heart on her Tumblr.

Women channel girl power in a variety of ways, and for some, it's through their porn pseudonym. Twenty-two-year-old Lily Carter is just such a lady, deriving her name from Lynda Carter of TV's “The New Adventures of Wonder Woman.” Lily, a petite brunette with a girl-next-door smile, got her start as a webcam model and has since worked for Hustler, Elegant Angel and Naughty America. She's now in the running for an award in the newbies division over at adultdvdempire.com.
