Vehicle Collision on Highway 165 Left 28-Year-Old Driver Dead

MERCED, CA (December 9, 2022) – Early Monday night, one person died following a big rig accident on American Avenue. The incident happened on December 5th at around 5:45 p.m., involving a vehicle driven by a 28-year-old man and a tow truck. According to the police, the driver was waiting to make a left turn when the tow truck rear-ended his vehicle. Consequently, the vehicle was sent to the opposite lane of the highway and collided with a big rig. Furthermore, emergency crews and paramedics transported the driver to a nearby hospital but he was later pronounced dead. Both drivers of the big rig and the tow truck did not suffer injuries. Meanwhile, crews were dispatched to the crash to clean up the spilled oil from the semi-truck. The authorities released no addition information, an active investigation is currently ongoing.
