Possible Drunk Driver Caused Wrong-Way Crash on I-80

OAKLAND, CA (September 8, 2021) Police are investigating a wrong-way crash on I-80 that claimed the life of one person last Sunday night.

The fatal incident occurred at Interstate Highway 80, just east of the Bay Bridge, according to the California Highway Patrol.

In addition, witnesses pointed out that the driver of a Chevy fled the scene on foot towards the Bay Bridge.

Tragically, the red Volkswagen driver involved in the crash died at the scene, according to the responders.

The wrong-way crash also resulted in a closure of all the eastbound lanes on I-80 at the connector.

At this time, the identity of the suspect and the deceased victim remain unavailable.

Authorities claimed that alcohol was a primary factor that caused the collision.
