Two-Vehicle Crash on Interstate 580 Ends in 1 Dead

OAKLAND, CA (November 16, 2021)  A unnamed 19-year-old man died tragically after a two-vehicle crash on Interstate 580 on Saturday morning in Oakland.

The accident took place before 7:00 a.m. November 13, on westbound I-580 near 14th Street offramp.

CHP officers responded after a dispatch call of collision between a Toyota Scion and a Ford Escape. It turned out, for over speeding reasons, the Toyota rear-ended the Ford.

Due to the impact, the Toyota spun around toward the right shoulder and struck the over-crossing cement abutment.

Responding emergency crews pronounced the 19-year-old male driver dead at the scene.

Authorities withheld the victims name at this moment, and stated that no other injuries reported.

Officials said alcohol or drugs may not have been a factor. However, an active investigation is underway.
