Multi-Car Accident near J Street Left One Dead

SACRAMENTO, CA (February 23, 2023) – Thursday night, one victim died in a three-vehicle collision on Interstate 5.

The incident happened on January 26th, at around 9:30 p.m., on the southbound lanes of the 5 Freeway near J Street.

According to reports, a tow truck was assisting a vehicle that was out of commission on the side of the road. A Lexus stopped behind the tow truck. For reasons that are currently unclear, a Toyota rear-ended the Lexus. A Ford F-150 swerved to avoid the stalled Toyota, and pulled over into the center divider. Following this, a Hyundai rear-ended the Toyota, causing it to rear-end the Ford F-150.

As a result of this collision, two occupants of in the Toyota were affected. The rear right-hand side passenger became trapped in the vehicle, and a 67-year-old male passenger in the front of the Toyota died, due to injuries sustained.
