Man Dead after Pedestrian Crash near 7th Street in Oakland

OAKLAND, CA (November 19, 2021) – A pedestrian accident on Interstate 880 claimed the life of one man, early Sunday night.

The accident happened in the area of southbound I-880, just north of 7th Street. Dispatchers responded to the scene shortly after.

California Highway Patrols received reports of a man lying down on the highway after a Toyota truck hit him on the number one lane of I-880. Responding firefighters pronounced the man dead at the scene.

At this time, officials have not released the name and age of the deceased victim.

In addition, the involved driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with the authorities.

Following preliminary investigations, Oakland police ruled out alcohol or drugs as potential factors in the fatal accident. However, an active investigation is still ongoing.
