One Pronounced Dead after Two-Vehicle Accident near Priest Drive

TEMPE, AZ (April 5, 2023) – Wednesday afternoon, one victim was killed in a head-on collision on Southern Avenue.

Authorities responded to the scene just after 2:30 p.m., near Priest Drive on March 29th.

Per reports, the driver of a sports car was traveling at a high rate of speed and veered into oncoming traffic. As a result, the speeding vehicle eventually collided head-on into a van.

Shortly after, a third driver also slammed into the two damaged vehicles.

Investigators say the sports car was occupied by a driver and a passenger. Due to the extent of injuries sustained, medics pronounced the passenger inside the sports car dead at the scene.

Meanwhile, the drivers of the van and the other car suffered various injuries. Paramedics transported them both to a nearby hospital for further treatment.

Following preliminary duties, officers determined that the driver of the sports car was impaired. However, police have not issued any citations or arrests.

At this time, an active investigation is still currently underway. Once available, further details will be provided.
