1 Pronounced Dead, 1 Hospitalized after Collision in East Los Angeles
LOS ANGELES, CA (April 1, 2021) – Sunday morning, one person was killed and another was injured in a car accident along the 5 Freeway, near 710 Freeway.
Officers responded to the collision around 5:25 a.m., in East Los Angeles. For reasons still unknown, a sedan slammed into the center divider on the northbound lanes.
Additionally, crews say at least four other vehicles became involved amidst the chaos. Although, the events leading up to the multi-car accident remain unclear.
Firefighters and paramedics arrived and pronounced one victim dead on scene. Emergency crews transported the second patient to a nearby hospital for further treatment.
Authorities have not yet released the identities of those involved in the car accident on 5 Freeway.
California Highway Patrol forced the 5 Freeway to shut down for a brief time during cleanup and preliminary duties. But, the roadway has since reopened to traffic.
At this time, officers are still investigating to determine further information. Once available, more details will be provided.
