47-Year-Old Motorcyclist Killed, 3 Other Injured in Traffic Accident near McCann Drive

CHICO, CA (September 2, 2022) – On Tuesday night, a head-on crash on Neal Road resulted in one fatality and three injuries.

The incident happened on August 30th at approximately 7:38 p.m. on Neal Road near McCann Drive.

Furthermore, authorities said a motorcycle driven by a 47-year-old Chico man and a BMW SUV with five occupants.

Initial investigation showed that the motorcyclist was traveling southbound when he drifted into the northbound lanes for unknown reasons.

Consequently, he crashed head-on with the BMW.

Furthermore, a total of three occupants from the BMW required hospitalization. Unfortunately, the motorcyclist died due to his injuries.

In addition, the injured people on the BMW were transported to Enloe Medical Center for treatment. Neal Road was shut down for about an hour and a half, but it has since been reopened.

Meanwhile, police have identified that alcohol, drugs, or distracted driving are the suspected factors of the crash. An active investigation is currently underway
