1 Killed, Multiple Injured in Car Accident near Sutter Avenue

COALINGA, CA (March 10, 2022) – Saturday night, one person died and multiple were airlifted after a wrong-way crash on Jayne Avenue.

The incident happened around 7:15 p.m., along Jayne Avenue just west of Sutter Avenue. Emergency crews responded to the scene shortly after.

According to the police, two vehicles collided after one of them crossed the center divider for reasons unknown.

Paramedics arrived and pronounced a man who was driving one of one of the vehicles dead at the scene. In addition, medical personnel airlifted his female passenger to a hospital for further treatment.

In addition, crews airlifted the male driver of the other vehicle to a hospital. Meanwhile, medics transported the woman he was with for minor injuries.

Following preliminary investigations, investigators believe speed was a contributing factor.

Crews temporarily closed both directions of the road to allow for cleanup and preliminary duties. At this time, Coalinga Police are still investigating the deadly crash on Jayne Avenue.
