Woman Dead Following a Wrong-Way Crash on Interstate 5

ARBUCKLE, CA (August 5, 2021) On Monday evening, a woman was killed and three others were injured in a wrong-way crash on Interstate 5.

Officers received reports of a crash in the northbound lanes of I-5 near Greenbay Road around 9:15 p.m. Sunday.

According to the CHP, a 76-year-old man from Washington was driving a Prius on the wrong side of I-5 at an unknown speed before colliding head-on with a Dodge minivan traveling at 65 miles per hour.

According to the CHP, a 74-year-old Washington woman riding in the right front seat of the Prius died.

Meanwhile, medics transported the Prius driver, the 41-year-old woman driving the Dodge and her passenger to a hospital in Chico with serious injuries.

Moreover, the CHP closed off northbound lanes of I-5 while crews cleared the scene.

At this time, it is unknown whether speed, drugs, or alcohol played a role in the crash. However, an active investigation is underway.
