Deadly Multi-Vehicle Crash Kills 1, Injures 2 on I-205

TRACY, CA (March 30, 2021) – Early Sunday morning, a multi-vehicle crash killed one and left two people injured on Interstate 205.

CHP was notified of the crash around 1:05 a.m., on March 21. Emergency crews arrived shortly after receiving several dispatch calls about a four-vehicle crash.

A car was driving down I-205 when it attempted to make a left turn. The driver then overshot, and the car tipped over.

As a result, the driver and two passengers were ejected from the car onto the roadway. The vehicle then came to a stop in the No. 2 and 3 southbound lanes.

Moments later, a second car crashed into the stalled vehicle and a third incoming car then collided with one of the passengers on the roadway. A fourth vehicle then failed to brake in time and consequently collided with the second vehicle.

Two passengers were critically hurt and rushed to a nearby hospital. Due to the extent of the injuries sustained, the second passenger later died. However, the identity of the deceased has not been released.

California Highway Patrol shut down the road for several hours. But, the area has since reopened to traffic.
