SUV versus Pedestrian Crash near South Ross Street Left One Fatality

SANTA ANA, CA (April 5, 2023) – Early Sunday morning, a person died and another suffered injuries in a hit-and-run on St. Gertrude Place. The collision occurred around 2:00 a.m. in a Santa Ana residential neighborhood, near St. Gertrude Place and South Ross Street intersection. Based on the investigation, an SUV heading westbound on St. Gertrude Place hit two pedestrian standing next to each other in the street. However, the driver did not render aid to the victims and fled the scene before the authorities arrived. Responding medical personnel rushed both victims to a hospital. Unfortunately, the male victim succumbed to his injuries. The woman beside him received non-life-threatening injuries. In the end, Santa Ana Officials blocked off the area for several hours as crews clear out the scene.
