Traffic Accident near Elliot Road Left One Hurt

MESA, AZ (September 20, 2022) – Early Sunday morning, a wrong-way crash on Loop 202 left one person injured.

The incident happened on September 17th, just after 4:15 a.m., near Elliot Road.

According to police, they received reports of a vehicle driving northbound in the southbound lanes. The wrong-way vehicle ended up crashing into a large commercial vehicle. The impact of the collision left the driver of the wrong-way vehicle with serious injuries.

Emergency crews then arrived and took the injured person to a local hospital for treatment. He is under investigation for suspected impairment.

Afterward, a large portion of the roadway was temporarily shut down to allow for cleanup and preliminary duties.
