Pedestrian Hurt in Traffic Accident near UC Campus

RIVERSIDE, CA (May 9, 2022) – An unidentified individual suffered from injuries after a pedestrian crash on Blaine Street Thursday evening.

The incident happened at around 8:20 p.m. along Blaine Street and Iowa Avenue, a few blocks from the UC Riverside campus.

According to reports, the pedestrian crossed the street as a 2007 Chevrolet pickup approached.

The driver had no time to avoid the collision and struck the pedestrian.

Officials also stated that they are unsure whether the victim crossed in or near a marked pedestrian crossing.

Responding emergency personnel then rushed the patient to Riverside Community Hospital, in a critical condition.

Meanwhile, the driver stayed and cooperated with the authorities. The CHP stated at this time that no charges were made and they continue to investigate the incident.

Riverside police ask anyone who witnessed the accident to contact the police Traffic Bureau at 951-826-8723.
