62-Year-Old Cyclist Hospitalized after Collision near Community Road

POWAY, CA (October 31, 2022) – Thursday morning, one victim sustained injuries in a bicycle crash on Kirkham Road.

The incident occurred around 7:39 a.m., on the 12100 block of Kirkham Road near Community Road. However, the events leading up remain unclear.

According to reports, the 49-year-old driver of the involved vehicle and another passing motorist called 9-1-1 and assisted the cyclist.

Officers arrived at the scene and transported the 62-year-old cyclist to Palomar Medical Center in Escondido for treatment of his injuries.

Following preliminary investigations, officials do not suspect alcohol or drugs as factors in the bicycle crash on Kirkham Road. The sheriff’s office instead believes that the driver may have been affected by the sunrise.
