Driver Arrested after Pedestrian Accident on Newport Avenue

TUSTIN, CA (April 14, 2022) – Saturday evening, one person was hospitalized following a pedestrian collision on McFadden Avenue.

The incident occurred around 10:00 p.m., at the intersection of McFadden and Newport Avenue on April 2.

Following preliminary duties, investigators discovered that the driver of a vehicle struck a pedestrian and fled the scene. Responding officers located a man lying on the road upon arrival.

Paramedics transported the injured pedestrian to a nearby hospital with unspecified injuries. Officers on scene conducted a field sobriety test on the driver and placed him under arrest on suspicion of DUI.

In addition, the DUI driver and his female passenger escaped the crash with no injuries.

Moreover, the crash closed the area for several hours as CHP investigated the collision. At this time, no further details are available. Although, Tustin officials will release updates once available.
