One Fatally Struck in Pedestrian Collision near Lemon Street

TEMPE, AZ (March 22, 2023) – Late Thursday evening, one victim was pronounced dead after a pedestrian accident on Rural Road.

Police responded to the scene just before midnight on March 9th, on Lemon Street near the ASU Tempe campus.

According to reports, the driver of a vehicle struck a pedestrian as they were walking in the middle of the street. Medics arrived and transported the pedestrian to a nearby hospital in serious condition.

At this time, authorities have not released the identities of those involved. Following preliminary duties, officers determined that impairment was not a factor in the incident. However, further investigation is still currently underway.

Emergency crews closed off the surrounding area for a brief time during cleanup and preliminary duties before it was later reopened. Once available, more details will be provided.
