One Pronounced Dead after Multi-Car Collision near Twitchell Reservoir
SAN LUIS OBISPO COUNTY, CA (September 7, 2023) – Monday afternoon, one victim was pronounced dead after a wrong-way accident on Highway 166. The incident occurred around 12:50 p.m., near Alamo Creek Road just north of Twitchell Reservoir. Per reports, the driver of a 2017 Chevrolet Silverado was heading east and attempted to pass traffic by using the westbound lanes. There, the Silverado struck a 2003 Chevrolet Tahoe head-on. Upon impact, a passenger inside the Silverado suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene. Although, authorities have not yet released their identity. In addition, responding fire officials transported at least five other occupants to nearby hospitals for further treatment. At around 6:39 p.m., emergency crews reopened all the lanes of Highway 166. No further details regarding the multi-vehicle crash have been released to the public.
