UPS Driver Fatally Injured in Head-On Crash near Mile 273

HOLBROOK, AZ (November 16, 2022) – Sunday afternoon, one driver was killed in a UPS truck vs semi-truck collision on Interstate 40.

Around 4:00 p.m., a westbound UPS truck veered into eastbound lanes and struck an oncoming semi-truck head-on.

Upon impact, the UPS driver was ejected from their vehicle onto the road. Responding officers arrived shortly after and transported the driver with life-threatening injuries to a nearby hospital where he later died.

Emergency crews closed off the surrounding area for a brief time during cleanup and preliminary duties before it was later reopened. Further circumstances leading up to the crash still remain unclear.

Additionally, authorities have not yet released the identity of the deceased victim. At this time, an active investigation is still currently underway.
