49-Year-Old Man Arrested after Fatal Hit-and-Run near Berryessa Road

SAN JOSE, CA (February 15, 2023) – Sunday night, Martin Ramirez Salazar was arrested after a fatal DUI crash on Interstate 680.

Officers responded to the scene around 10:50 p.m., just north of Berryessa Road in the No. 2 lane.

Based on reports, the driver of a northbound GMC Sierra was traveling at a high rate of speed and veered into the back of a Ford Focus.

Upon impact, the Ford driver lost control and crashed into a concrete barrier in the center divider. Meanwhile, the GMC also lost control and traveled across three lanes of the freeway.

Medics arrived and pronounced the Ford driver dead at the scene. Although, his identity remains undisclosed at this time.

Authorities spotted the GMC driver fleeing the scene before arresting him at his home in Fremont. 49-year-old Martin Ramirez Salazar, of Fremont was charged with hit-and-run and DUI.
