One Killed in High-Speed Two-Vehicle Crash near East Belle Terrace

BAKERSFIELD, CA (January 16, 2023) – Tuesday night, one victim was killed in a high-speed head-on collision on South Mount Vernon Avenue.

Police officers responded to the scene around 5:45 p.m., near East Belle Terrace in the city of Bakersfield.

Investigators say two cars, both driven by men, were traveling in opposite directions when the southbound vehicle veered into oncoming traffic at a high rate of speed.

As a result, the two vehicles collided, causing fatal injuries to one of the male drivers. Authorities have not yet released the identity of the deceased man.

Meanwhile, paramedics transported the other driver to a nearby hospital with moderate injuries.
