Fatal Wrong-Way Collision near George F. Butler Memorial Bridge

NAPA, CA (August 31, 2022) – Late Saturday night, one person was killed and four were injured in a wrong-way accident on Highway 29.

The crash happened around 11:30 p.m., near George F. Butler Memorial Bridge on August 13th, according to initial reports.

For reasons under investigation, one of the involved vehicles was heading south in the northbound lanes of Highway 29. As a result, it crashed into four northbound vehicles.

Due to the impact of the collision, medics pronounced one occupant dead at the scene. Meanwhile, paramedics took four other injured victims to Queen of the Valley Medical Center and Kaiser Vacaville for further treatment.

At this time, authorities have not yet released the identities of those involved in the accident.

Furthermore, crews closed the surrounding area for a brief time during cleanup and preliminary duties. California Highway Patrol did not release any additional information. However, further circumstances surrounding the wrong-way accident on Highway 29 remain under active investigation.
