Two-Car Collision on Interstate 8 Left 1 Dead, 1 Hospitalized

SAN DIEGO, CA (January 11, 2022) – On Monday, one person died and another was hospitalized after a two-car collision on Interstate 8.

The incident happened at 11:25 p.m. along West I-8 near the end of the freeway at Sunset Cliffs Boulevard.

California Highway Patrol stated two-vehicles collided on the freeway under unclear circumstances. As per reports, one of the vehicles entered the westbound lane of the highway and started speeding.

Responding medics found one person dead at the scene. Meanwhile, other medics transported one other with injuries to a local hospital.

According to the CHP, it is unknown if the deceased individual was driving in the wrong way vehicle or was in the car that crashed.

Moreover, the collision caused the closure of the westbound lanes of the freeway for an unspecified amount of time.

At this time, it is unknown whether speed, drugs, or alcohol played a role in the crash. However, an active investigation is underway.
