1 Semi-Truck Driver Hospitalized after a Major Crash on Fresno-Coalinga Road

FRESNO, CA (August 9, 2021)  A driver was flown to a hospital Wednesday morning after a semi-truck crash on Fresno-Coalinga Road.

The collision occurred just after midnight on August 4 at the intersection of Fresno-Coalinga Road and El Dorado Avenue.

According to the CHP, the driver of a semi-truck, transporting tomatoes, ran a red light at Oakland Avenue and T-boned another semi-truck carrying grapes that had turned at the intersection.

The driver of the tomato truck was pinned inside his cab as a result of the impact and had to be extricated by emergency personnel.

Medics then airlifted him to a Fresno hospital for treatment of major injuries.

Meanwhile, the driver of the grape truck was unharmed.

Even though the cause of the accident still remains unknown, an investigation is underway.

Because of their size, large vehicles such as semi-trucks and trailers increase the risk of a crash. If you are driving one, always be mindful of your vehicle’s large height and weight. Maintain your travel lane and follow the speed limit. Also, adjust accordingly to give way for lane changes.
