At Least 13 Hurt in Rollover Collision near Pine Valley

SAN DIEGO, CA (December 16, 2021) – Tuesday evening, one person was airlifted and 13 were hurt after a car accident on Interstate 8.

The incident occurred around 6:00 p.m., when officers received reports of a “failure-to-yield incident”, according to a Border Patrol spokeswoman.

According to reports, the driver of a Chevrolet Silverado pickup-truck lost control of the vehicle on the westbound lanes. As a result, the truck overturned on the highway near Pine Valley.

Investigators say 13 people were riding in the cab and bed of the truck at the time.

Paramedics arrived and transported twelve victims to a nearby hospital via ambulance. In addition, crews airlifted one person to a hospital via helicopter.

San Diego Officials temporarily blocked all the westbound lanes of Interstate 8 at Buckman Springs Road. Although, the road has since reopened to traffic.

At this time, an active investigation to determine further details is still underway.
