FYF Fest this year felt like Coachella in L.A. -- the stages and everything else have gotten huge -- although the vibe was even more music-centric and laid back. Though in the heart of L.A., it wasn't about being "seen" as much as seeing one's favorite bands, even in the VIP areas.
The no-frills feel was reflected in the fashion choices too. Yeah, there was a lot of "eastsider" facial hair, '80s touches like neon and acid wash, and those flower head garlands. Mostly though, people were dressed for comfort and stomping about. We were proud about the relative lack of self-conscious irony out there. Here are the top 10 fashion moments of the festival.

We had a mostly, pretty great time at FYF Fest this year! Still, some of the bands kind of sucked it up -- and there were some logistical and fashion-oriented problems as well. So let's complain!

Strap on your party hats! FYF Festival goes down this weekend, August 24 and 25, at L.A. State Historic Park. But that's all we're going to tell you -- test your festival knowledge with our annual FYF SAT below:
One year ago, alt-metal band Baroness was touring Europe behind the release of their criticially-acclaimed LP Yellow & Green. This ambitious double album was getting strong buzz for introducing progressive-rock elements into a sludge-metal blueprint. It was a big moment for the Georgia-based band.
The momentum came to a screeching halt on a rainy morning in August 2012, however, when Baroness' tour bus plunged 30 feet off a viaduct. The accident occurred in Bath, England and injured nine people. Three members of Baroness were in the hospital, for more than two weeks.
The lineup for FYF Fest 2013 was announced this morning and features
Saturday Sunday headliners My Bloody Valentine and Sunday Saturday headliners the Yeah Yeah Yeahs. Artists including TV on the Radio, Flag, Deerhunter, MGMT, Beach House, Yo La Tengo, The Breeders, Devendra Banhart, Solange and Shlohmo will also play the two day festival.

Better Than: Striking for a 40 hour work week.
After a series of intense showers and professional-assisted dust removal, we were back for day two of the purported Best Weekend of the Summer. Thankfully, Fuck Yeah Fest Fest delivered on its promise; after all, no one wants to suffer tinnitus, sausage legs and black lung for the Most OK Weekend of the Summer, do they? No. They don't.
Refused, Warpaint, The Vaselines, and others

Better than: Any cookout ever.
Braving choking dust clouds, oppressive sunlight and the inevitable game of PortaJohn Roulette ought to deliver an earthshattering prize. With another ambitious line up, and all modern conveniences covered this year (mist-troopers?), FYF Fest day one helped close down the summer in style.
FYF Fest is upon us! With a second day added this year -- it's tomorrow, Sept 1 and Sunday, Sept 2 at L.A. State Historic Park -- fans can expect double the reunions, headliners and local favorites. But the question is: How well do you know the festival? Test your festival knowledge with our second annual FYF SAT.
