Five Injured in Multi-Vehicle High-Speed Collision near White Lane

BAKERSFIELD, CA (April 24, 2024) – Police arrested Meylin Rosi Barrera Monday night, after a street racing collision on Old river Road.

The incident occurred at approximately 7:00 p.m., near White Lane on April 22nd.

According to investigators, two Camaros were engaged in a race when one of them collided with the center median and several other vehicles that were stationary at the intersection. Subsequent to the collision, one of the drivers proceeded to travel eastward on White Lane.
 
Paramedics responded to the scene and transported three adults and one juvenile to a nearby hospital with minor injuries. However, the identities of those involved have not yet been disclosed by the authorities.
 
Following initial procedures, law enforcement successfully apprehended 19-year-old Meylin Rose Barrera.
 
Barrera was also taken to a nearby hospital for medical attention before being booked into Lerdo Jail on charges related to participation in an illegal speed contest, reckless driving, and endangerment of a child.
 
The driver of the black Camaro involved in the incident is currently at large.
 
Further investigation into the matter is ongoing, and individuals possessing information regarding the incident are urged to contact the BPD at 661-327-7111. Reckless driving continues to result in thousands of injuries annually.
